- Relationship is the new currency
- Collaboration is the new competitive advantage
- Strengths and gifts are more important than deficiencies
Relationship is the new currency – this comes from helping and supporting others without expectation of return. Think “pay-it forward”. These are the kinds of people I am drawn to and want to collaborate with. How about you?
Collaboration is the new competitive advantage – collaboration allows flexibility and agility when economic times are tough. This is true for us as individuals and small businesses. When we collaborate with one another, our whole is greater than the sum of our parts.
Strengths and gifts are more important than deficiencies – when we focus on our strengths and gifts, something shifts. We receive a better return on our investments of time and effort than focusing on “fixing” our weaknesses. The world needs more of our unique blend of strengths and gifts.
“Do not depend on the hope of results. You may have to face the fact that your work will be apparently worthless and even achieve no result at all, if not perhaps results opposite to what you expect. As you get used to this idea, you start more and more to concentrate not on the results, but on the value, the rightness, the truth of the work itself. You gradually struggle less and less for an idea and more and more for specific people. In the end, it is the reality of personal relationship that saves everything.”
– Thomas Merton
